I made it to Southwell near Nottingham for the inaugural Southwell Music Festival created by my friend and colleague Marcus Farnsworth. Long may it reign. Sophie Bevan - mate/superstar soprano and I rehearsed Haydn's Creation with Marcus and his Festival Orchestra and Choir before exploring the environs of the Minster at Southwell.
Next to the Minster we found some extreme sportsman and women and we settled in to watch an evening match. Statistically, Bowls is the most dangerous sport on the planet. These guys were very kind to us and were eager to share their passion for the game. They were skilled and competitive and very funny.
